After a two-year run with G2 Esports and the ex-The Guard core, star VALORANT flex Jonah “JonahP” Pulice is now in restricted free agency for VCT 2026—but this story isn’t without its fair share of offseason drama.
G2’s abrupt announcement on Nov. 12 about JonahP’s removal from the active roster attracted massive speculation and pushback from the fandom, who’s been watching the player pull off outlandish clutches and initiator plays for years now. The talented 25-year old has now come forward with an announcement of his own and while he’s confident about his achievements, the timeline of this unnatural VALORANT roster move couldn’t have been worse.
“I wish this announcement also came with news of me joining a team excited to get to see you all at VCT,” JonahP wrote in an X post on Nov. 13. “Unfortunately, the process and timeline that was prioritized didn’t put me in the best position for that, which I’ll go into more at a better time for me.”
G2’s announcement came at a time when most VCT teams have already finalized their rosters for the upcoming season. Add to this weird timeline the backlash, JonahP’s girlfriend calling out lack of empathy, and JonahP’s cryptic comment from last week, and it’s obvious there’s more to the story than just a plain old off-season roster move. He’s also still under contract with G2, making him a restricted free agent.
The player has indicated that he’d reveal more about what happened “at a better time.” For now, he seemingly wants to focus on finding an offer for VCT 2026.
In the same X post, JonahP highlighted a couple of his commendable stats from VCT 2025. He finished the erstwhile season as a top 10 rated player globally on three agents, and dominated in assists both aggregately and at internationals, which are huge achievements for a flex support player in pro VALORANT. Highlighting his ideal in-game mindset and flexibility with agents and maps, he wrote: “I excel at and prioritize executing my function within the team’s system, and play any agent, any way, on any map that my coach and teammates need.”
But he isn’t just a well-rounded flex either: JonahP’s also been G2’s secondary IGL, supporting Jacob “valyn” Batio throughout the roster’s run so far. Justifiably, he highlighted “secondary IGLing & strategy/protocol crafting” as his strength too.
Landing an all-rounder flex of his stature is rare, and JonahP knows it. “There have been ups and downs, but for the entirety of my career I have improved year over year, and continued to play at the highest level against the best competition in the world, which is enough evidence for me to be confident I haven’t hit my ceiling yet,” he said.
While JonahP is still under contract with G2, there’s no buyout, which should make it easier for him to land a new team for VCT 2026.
