Johnstone Burgh move for Arthurlie striker as 13 exit Keanie Park in squad revamp

Johnstone Burgh have snapped up former Arthurlie striker Dale Simeon.

The Keanie Park side are making moves as they prepare for another season of West of Scotland League First Division football, with goal machine Simeon a key addition.

Speaking to Burgh’s social media pages on Thursday night, boss Jamie McKim said: “I’m delighted to get Dale on board. He is a player I’ve been aware of for a number of years now and I am certain he will be a massive success at our club.

“Our supporters will see real quality from Dale in the final third – assisting and scoring goals are a massive part of his game. Dale is exactly the type of player and person I am looking to bring in to take this club to the next level.”

Hitman Simeon, after agreeing terms with Burgh, added: “The ambition and commitment of the coaching staff is second to none. I’m looking forward to competing on all fronts with such a talented squad.”

Burgh have also signed Kilbirnie Ladeside's Ross McKenzie with midfielder Malky McDonald agreeing a one-year contract extension at the club.

McKim said: “Ross is another player who will bring energy, creativity and goals from midfield and Malky's a player who has been with us a good while now and has improved every season.”

Under-20s prospect Noah Young has agreed fresh terms but the club will loan him out next season so he can gain first-team experience.

A total of 13 players are leaving the club as McKim aims to mastermind a promotion push.

Jason Andrew, Glen Cameron, Danny McBeth, Stuart Fyfe, Thomas Cruden, Mark Donaldson, Robbie Stirling, Jack McMahon, Aaron Millar, Eachiann Miller, Jack Smith, Ross Cameron and Lee Mitchell are all moving on with the club’s thanks.

Meanwhile, Burgh have unveiled their pre-season programme which includes a town derby, a weekend tournament and a trip to the West of Scotland League Premier Division champions.

McKim’s squad will shake off the cobwebs with a visit to the seaside to face Ardrossan Winton Rovers on Saturday, July 1.

The JW Grant tournament over the weekend of Saturday, July 8 will perhaps be the first time Burgh fans get to see new signing, ex-Rangers midfielder Graham Dorrans, at Keanie Park.

On Tuesday, July 11, it is derby day as Burgh make the very short journey to face neighbours Thorn Athletic while preparations really step up from Saturday, July 15, when Hurlford United come calling.

It is then a clash with East Ayrshire giants Auchinleck Talbot at Beechwood Park on Wednesday, July 19.

Pre-season will be wrapped up on Saturday, July 22, on the road at Bellsdale against reigning West champions Beith. The league season looks set to start a week later.
