The highly anticipated comeback movie of Hollywood A-lister Johnny Depp, 'Jeanne du Barry,' has been officially slated for a theatrical release in the United States. Fathom Events and Vertical have joined forces to bring this Cannes Opening Night sensation to audiences across the nation, with an exclusive engagement in over 500 theaters starting on May 2nd.

'Jeanne du Barry' stars Johnny Depp and Maïwenn in the lead roles and is based on true events depicting a peasant woman's remarkable ascent through the Court of King Louis XV. The film made a significant impact at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, receiving a 7-minute standing ovation after its world premiere.

The storyline follows Jeanne Vaubernier, portrayed by Maïwenn, a determined working-class woman who uses her charms to escape poverty and climb the social hierarchy. When her lover, the Comte du Barry, played by Poupaud, introduces her to King Louis XV, portrayed by Depp, a captivating love story unfolds, leading to scandal and intrigue at the royal court.

The film, directed, co-written, and produced by Maïwenn, also features a talented ensemble cast including Benjamin Lavernhe, Pierre Richard, Melvil Poupaud, and Pascal Greggory. With a compelling narrative and stellar performances, 'Jeanne du Barry' promises to captivate audiences with its lush visuals and engaging storytelling.

Vertical Partner Peter Jarowey expressed excitement about the collaboration with Fathom Events, highlighting the film's success overseas and the anticipation for its U.S. release. The partnership aims to provide moviegoers nationwide the opportunity to experience this cinematic masterpiece on the big screen.

Johnny Depp, known for his iconic roles in films like 'Pirates of the Caribbean,' is making a notable return to the spotlight with 'Jeanne du Barry.' Despite recent legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard, Depp is focusing on his acting career, with upcoming projects including directing the biographical drama 'Modì' and a potential role in Terry Gilliam's 'Carnival at the End of Days.'

For fans eagerly awaiting Johnny Depp's return to the big screen, mark your calendars for May 2, 2024, when 'Jeanne du Barry' will enchant audiences in theaters across the United States.
