Johnnie Walker’s widow shares emotional video of late BBC DJ as she praises Andy Burnham on social care plans

Johnnie Walker’s widow Tiggy has shared a video of her late husband as she opened up about the difficulties of being a full-time carer.

The veteran radio DJ died in December 2024 at the age of 79 after battling a terminal lung condition for five years.

Tiggy became his carer in his final years, which she described as “the most challenging of my life”.

Posting a video of Johnnie nine months before his death, Tiggy wrote that alongside the difficulties that came with caring for her terminally ill husband, she had “no time for me or my career”.

She went on to praise Andy Burnham “for putting social care on his agenda”, after the new prime minister pledged to fix the system.
