John Souttar in Rangers start career NOW message as he admits he's feeling 'brilliant'

John Souttar wants to start his Rangers career NOW as he opened up on his early Ibrox struggles.

The Light Blues swooped for the Scotland international on a free transfer from Hearts during Giovanni van Bronckhorst's reign but he's hardly tasted any action due to injury. The defender struggled during pre-season due to a knock from the international scene but after a few months of being sidelined the stopper admits he feels 'brilliant'.

Souttar is determined to kick on from here and show everybody what he can do as he bids to break into Michael Beale's defence with Connor Goldson and Ben Davies striking up a strong bond at the heart of the backline. He is also determined to realise his Champions League dream after having to sit and watch his team-mates in action during the European campaign.

The centre-back was handed a late cameo in a Premiership win over Kilmarnock while he was given a good run out in the Scottish Cup win over Raith Rovers. He also played 45 minutes for the B side in a Glasgow Cup clash with Celtic.

He told Rangers TV: "Pre-season was a bit of a struggle for me, obviously because I brought over an injury from Scotland in the summer. It was tough for me because I felt like I was always managing an injury.

"But a few months down the line, I'm feeling brilliant. I'm just looking to start my Rangers career from now.

"When you think about signing for Rangers you think about starting, being 100 per cent, kicking on from where I was last season. I wanted to play in the Champions League so for me to get so close to that and having to watch them from the sides was difficult day-in, day-out.

"Especially at a new club because you want to show everyone how good you are. It was difficult from that point of view but I feel I'm now at a point where I can show everyone but I can do."
