John Higgins whitewashes Kyren Wilson in perfect opening session at World Snooker Championships

Wizard of Wishaw John Higgins is working his magic at the World Snooker Championships after a first session whitewash over Kyren Wilson in their second round clash.

The 47-year-old has taken all eight frames of the opening session against the Englishman - who hit a 147 in his first round win over Ryan Day - as he rolls back the years at the Crucible.

Higgins is chasing his fifth world title and he is in sparkling form right now after hitting three centuries on his way to an 8-0 lead, with back-to-back breaks of 136 and 137 in the opening frames.

He also recorded a break of 136 again in frame seven to leave Wilson stunned.

Play resumes tonight at 7pm and Higgins only needs five more frames to book his place in the quarter-finals.

Higgins made light work of David Grace in his first round match earlier in the week, brushing him aside in a 10-3 win.

If he comes through the match with Wilson, Higgins would be due to face either Gary Wilson or Mark Selby in the last eight on Tuesday and Wednesday.
