John Hartson names who should he thinks should replace Unai Emery at Arsenal

Former Arsenal forward John Hartson believes his old club should turn to Mauricio Pochettino as their next head coach.

The Gunners confirmed that they had parted company with head coach Unai Emery on Friday morning, with Freddie Ljungberg placed in temporary charge while a permanent replacement is sought.

Emery has been under increasing pressure after a poor start to the season and leaves the north London club without a win in their last seven games.

And Hartson believes that despite the Argentine’s links with Tottenham, the Gunner hierarchy should look no further than him.

“I think Pochettino,” the Welshman replied when asked who the Gunners should turn to next on BT Sport.

“I think he is out there and he is available and why not?

“You can’t tell me about loyalty. Jose Mourinho joined Manchester United, Chelsea's biggest rivals a while ago. Over a 10 year period those two teams were the ones competing and now he has gone to Spurs.

“In terms of people saying Pochettino has been at Tottenham for five years how on earth can he go to Arsenal, but why not?

“I’m just saying how it is. If Pochettino fancied Arsenal, and he can deal with that loyalty side. I don’t see why Pochettino can’t join Arsenal, as I don’t see many better out there at the moment.”
