Joey Veerman ‘annoyed’ as Rangers target grows frustrated with Heerenveen transfer stalemate

Joey Veerman is 'annoyed' with Heerenveen over his transfer stalemate and is growing more and more frustrated with the club.

The midfielder was deployed in a more attacking position during his side's pre-season friendly at the weekend and that added to his anger at his ongoing situation.

He has previously taken a pop at his employers over their £12m asking price with Italian side Verona offering around £5m, and Rangers reportedly offering similar.

And Dutch media report that he is a frustrated figure in the club’s training camp.

Leeuwarder Courant described him as ‘walking around with the plague in his body’ because of the speculation around him.

They say he was reluctant to play in the attacking midfield position that Johnny Jansen picked for him at the weekend, with Veerman preferring the deep-lying playmaker role.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is reportedly interesting in signing him as he looks to strengthen his midfield further ahead of a Champions League tilt.

The Premiership champions begin their campaign against either Malmo or HJK Helsinki in less than two weeks.

They've already added John Lundstram to the midfield options but want to add another with Steven Davis' age and injury fears over Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield, as well as doubts over Glen Kamara's future.
