Joey Barton in fresh Scott Brown dig amid Fleetwood chairman 'fool' verdict

Joey Barton has continued to air his grievances toward the Fleetwood Town hierarchy following his sacking in 2021.

And the Rangers flop has in turn taken another thinly-veiled swipe at Celtic hero Scott Brown.

Barton, now in charge of Bristol Rovers, came up against Broony in the dugout on Easter Monday as his side came from behind to beat the Cod Army 2-1 in their League One clash.

Barton was dismissed by Fleetwood in January 2021 and took over in Bristol a month later.

He reignited his feud with Brown on Monday from his time at Rangers, as he claimed his former club's fans would rather have him in charge than the Hoops hero.

Now, quotes in Bristol Live have emerged noting another dig from Barton aimed at Fleetwood chairman Andy Pilley, also bringing Brown into the equation.

They read: "He was a fool to sack me, as he knows, and you can see from the style of football and where the club has gone since."

On Brown, he added: "To be fair to Scott, he’s turned them around, had a good cup run and picked them up in the table. It’s taken a bit of time.

"But your mind just goes into winning the game. I want to beat my children at Connect Four and Tiddlywinks, I don’t give anyone an inch in anything, but there was a bit of added spice for my first visit back here."
