Joelinton 'a doubt' but Dwight Gayle and Yoshinori Muto primed for a return this weekend

Dwight Gayle is ready to face Crystal Palace after returning from a longstanding hamstring injury.

Gayle limped off at Wolves after setting up a goal for Miguel Almiron in the 1-1 draw and hasn't kicked a ball since in the Premier League.

But both Gayle and Yoshinori Muto are available for the clash at Selhurst Park.

Steve Bruce will run a late fitness check on Joelinton with the Brazilian suffering a thigh strain this week.

Bruce said: "Dwight has trained all week.

"He puts himself in contention as is Yoshinori Muto. Joelinton is a doubt.

"Christian Atsu is sick.

"It is the first time we had 18 or 19 players for a few weeks."

However, Bruce will be forced into a defensive reshuffle with Ciaran Clark ruled out with an ankle problem after being taken off at the end of the 4-0 defeat last weekend.

It means Florian Lejeune and Fabian Schar are back in contention for a start.

Bruce added: "Ciaran Clark?

"It's nasty one that's for sure.

"He's in a boot at the moment and will be assessed."
