Joel Nouble praises Celtic Euro displays as 'Livingston to the Bernabeu' situation deemed hilarious

Livingston striker Joel Nouble has praised Celtic's Champions League performances as he insists they are the 'team to beat' in the Premiership.

The towering striker has been impressed by Ange Postecoglou's side in Europe this season after watching most of their Champions League duels. And the English forward believes Celtic’s results haven’t reflected on their performances, after they exited the elite competition following a 1-1 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Celtic will travel to the Tony Macaroni on Sunday as they seek to continue their fine league form at the top of the league. Nouble helped the Hoops after striking against rivals Rangers to earn a point for David Martindale’s men last week. That result coupled with Celtic’s breathless 4-3 win at Tynecastle saw Postecoglou's extend the gap to four points.

Speaking ahead of the Premiership clash Nouble said: “Celtic are the team to beat in the league. I have watched most of their games in the Champions League and the points they have doesn’t reflect how they’ve played. They have missed a lot of chances.

“Now they have to go from playing at Champions League level to playing Livingston away and then going to play Real Madrid.

Nouble admits he’s relishing the chance to be the support act to Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema he added: “That’s pretty crazy. There won’t be too many teams who have gone from Livingston to the Bernabeu!

“It’s quite funny to think they’ll have been doing their work on Shakhtar Donetsk earlier in the week, next week they’ll be looking at Vini Jr, Benzema, Modric... but in the middle it will be Joel Nouble! That’s quite funny but it will be good and we can’t wait.”
