Joe Worrall on his Rangers realisation as defender thanks Steven Gerrard for making him a 'better player'

Joe Worrall admits his temporary switch to Ibrox made him realise just how big a club Rangers are.

The centre-back spent last season on loan with Steven Gerrard 's side, making 32 appearances in all competitions.

The defender was frozen out by previous Nottingham Forest boss Aitor Karanka but since returning from his Ibrox loan, he’s starred under new boss Sabri Lamouchi.

Worrall helped Forest into the play-off positions prior to the lockdown and he claims it’s all down to the season he spent at Ibrox.

He said: “It was incredible. I knew all about Rangers before I went up there and I was gobsmacked to be able to have the opportunity.

“Steven Gerrard was brilliant with me. I thought Forest was a big club but Rangers is absolutely humongous.

“When Karanka came in I wasn’t part of his plans so I appreciated the opportunity (to go to Ibrox).

“I took it with both hands and returned a better player.”
