Joe Willock’s Arsenal ambition as Gunners outline 2019/20 season stance

It has been some time since we have seen some football on the pitch.

And it has been confirmed in the week that fans and players will have to wait longer for Premier League action to return.

The outbreak of coronavirus has led to the suspension of most leagues around the world as lockdown measures are bought in around the globe in order to try and reduce the spread of the virus.

But, while there has been no football at the Emirates Stadium in doesn’t mean that there hasn’t been any news from the Gunners over the last 24 hours.

Joe Willock’s Arsenal ambition

Arsenal academy graduate Joe Willock has said that he would like to one day wear the captain’s armband at the Emirates Stadium after coming through the youth teams at the club.

The 20-year-old has appeared in 19 Premier League games this season but is yet to hold down a starting place under Mikel Arteta.

But talking to Arsenal’s official website, the midfielder has revealed his future aims.

“I want to continue to play for Arsenal, hopefully, one day captain the side and then one day play for England,” he said.

Gunners’ 2019/20 stance

Arsenal have released a statement backing the Premier League’s commitment to completing the 2019/20 season.

It has been confirmed that football will not return at the beginning of May as originally planned, with now an indefinite restart date being given.

However, the Premier League are making every effort to ensure that the current season will not be declared as null and void, something that the Gunners have shown their support for.

"As a club, we are in full support of the objective for all remaining domestic league and cup matches from the 2019/20 season to be played, in order to maintain the integrity of each competition," read a statement.
