Joe Willock drops fresh hint after Newcastle agree transfer with Arsenal to send supporters wild

Joe Willock appears to have dropped a hint about his future after Newcastle United agreed a fee with Arsenal for the midfielder.

The two clubs stuck a deal worth in excess of £20m over the weekend but ChronicleLive understands that there had still been work to do when it came to finalising personal terms and the player, obviously, undergoing a medical.

Steve Bruce would love to have Willock available for Newcastle's opening game of the season against West Ham at St James' Park on Sunday and the Magpies' head coach may yet get his wish.

To round off a true transfer saga, Willock has taken to Instagram to post a short message for the first time since a breakthrough in talks over the weekend.

The 21-year-old uploaded a photograph in his Arsenal training gear - tellingly opting for a picture without the club's crest showing - with the following caption: 'New limits'.

While that might not seem an out of the ordinary post at any other time of the campaign, Willock also used an hour glass with flowing sand emoji to suggest something was imminent.

The 21-year-old, who enjoyed a remarkable loan spell at St James' Park last season, has been Steve Bruce's top target this summer.

Bruce has had to be patient - the black-and-whites are the only Premier League side who have yet to make a signing in the window - but a deal may now be close.

ChronicleLive revealed on July 15 that Newcastle always remained hopeful of bringing Willock back for a second spell despite his affinity with boyhood club.

Willock became the youngest player in Premier League history to score in seven consecutive games last season and gave Newcastle's midfield a new dimension.
