Joe Swash leaves Dancing On Ice final rehearsals with huge bandage wrapped around head

Joe Swash left his Dancing On Ice rehearsals with a huge bandage on his head after suffering an ear infection ahead of the final.

Joe has been practising hard along with the other finalists for this Sunday's grand finale of the hit ITV dance show.

And his girlfriend Stacey Solomon was left worried after Joe was hours late from rehearsals and his phone was switched off, only to see him come home with a horrible ear infection.

Stacey shared an update on Joe's health with her fans, writing: "Joe is safe and well and still dancing, he just had some sort of ear infection and it looks to me like they're being precautious."

The huge wrap-up even forced a chuckle out of Stacey after Joe wandered in from rehearsals.

However, her laughing reaction didn't seem to be reciprocated by Joe as he didn't look too happy about her making light of the situation.

And Joe's advance to the Dancing On Ice final comes after he dedicated his skate to his late dad in Saturday's performance.

The 38-year-old explained that his father passed away when he was only 12 and would loved to have shared his experiences with him.

Joe wanted to perform to Simply Red's Stars, which was his mum and dad's favourite song and was played at his funeral.

But he revealed that the song now holds bad memories for his mum, so he wanted to give it back to her by making new ones with his routine.

Joe said: "Unfortunately my dad passed away when I was 12 and this song was played at his funeral. The song changed. Now every time my mum plays it, it brings back bad memories. I want to give it back to her. Give her new memories for the song."

"I'm sort of different to the person I would have been if..." said Joe as he started to choke up.

After pausing, he continued: "I miss my dad very day so much. I’d love to show him so many things I've done and experiences I could have shared with him."

While watching Joe training, his mum said his dad would be "so proud" of what he is doing.

*Dancing On Ice final airs on ITV 1 at 6pm on Sunday March 8th.
