Joe Cole believes Chelsea were only lacking 'the final ball' in their draw with Southampton at Saturday lunchtime.
The Blues had to come from behind to pick up a point at St Mary's, going behind after a brilliant first-half goal from Takumi Minamino, but they did manage to avoid defeat thanks to Mason Mount s penalty.
Chelsea will feel they should have won the game, though, racking up 71% possession across the afternoon but only managing three shots on target.
The issue was, according to former winger turned BT Sport pundit Cole, that they lacked the 'final ball', but he believes that will come for Tuchel's men as confidence increases.
"Under Tuchel, that has been the remit," said Cole after the game. "They have possession with progression and tactically, I thought they were good, in the middle thirds and in midfield, but that final ball eluded them today.
"He has the players there at Chelsea, and I just think it is a case of rebuilding the confidence a little bit with some of them.
"(Hakim) Ziyech came on, (Timo) Werner is still a work in progress. There are a lot of players still developing and they will get the numbers but it will take a few months, weeks, whatever until they can find that final ball and start banging them in."
The result leaves Chelsea looking over their shoulder, still in fourth place.
West Ham will have the opportunity to go above the Blues with a win over Tottenham on Sunday, and Liverpool can also climb above them with a three or more goal win over rivals Everton later today.
Chelsea face top-four rivals Manchester United next in the Premier League, but not before a Champions League Round of 16 first leg clash with Atletico Madrid.
