Joe Biden fractures foot while playing with his dog

President-elect Joe Biden was left with hairline fractures in his foot and will require a walking boot after slipping while playing with his dog Major on Saturday, his office announced on Sunday.

Details: Kevin O'Connor, Biden's doctor, originally said that the president-elect had "sustained a sprain of his right foot" and initial X-rays showed "no obvious fracture," per pool reports.

  • "A follow-up CT scan confirmed hairline (small) fractures of President-elect Biden’s lateral and intermediate cuneiform bones, which are in the mid-foot," O'Connor said in a statement later in the evening.
  • "It is anticipated that he will likely require a walking boot for several weeks."

For the record: Major is one of the Bidens' two German shepherds and will be the first rescue dog to inhabit the White House. The Bidens also plan to get a cat in January.
