DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln:

DoubleTree by Hilton has appointed Parry Rathod (pictured above) as the new general manager of its hotel in Brayford Wharf, Lincoln. Parry brings over 20 years of experience to the hotel and has worked for the global hospitality company since 2005.

In his new role, he is responsible for overseeing the operation of all areas of the hotel including meetings and events, dining, sales and marketing, as well as working with the local community and business leaders to make Lincoln a world-class destination.

He said: “My vision for the DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln is to become the best hotel in Lincolnshire, whilst driving Lincoln’s visitor economy promoting the city’s rich history, culture, diverse retail and food and beverage offering.

“We will continue to share the excellent service and warm welcome we are known for, and strive to develop the business to enhance what we currently offer.”

Prior to arriving in the UK, Parry’s hospitality experience was within luxury hotels in Mumbai, India. He started his career at Hilton in 2005 at the Hilton Blackpool, and from 2018 to 2021 was director of operations at the DoubleTree by Hilton Harrogate Majestic Hotel & Spa. Parry then led the newly opened Hampton by Hilton York, Piccadilly and Hampton by Hilton York, Toft Green.

Banner Jones:

Law firm Banner Jones has strengthened its personal injury team with the appointment of chartered legal executive Sarah Schoolar. Sarah has more than 15 years’ experience in civil litigation, helping secure compensation for clients who have suffered life altering injuries through no fault of their own.

She joins from Elliot Mather, and is based in the firm’s Chesterfield office. Her appointment follows news that Sarah Sadler will also take on the role of head of personal injury. Chief executive Simon Wright – the former head of personal injury – maintains a role in the team as consultant.

Sarah Sadler said: “I am delighted to welcome Sarah to the team and to take on my new role as Head of Personal Injury. We are excited to grow the department and to help people, who have been through difficult experiences, get the outcomes they hope for”.

Sarah Schoolar said: “I am really looking forward to joining the Banner Jones and working alongside Sarah.

“The personal injury team has a strong reputation across the region for its in-depth legal knowledge, but also for its personal approach that helps to put clients at ease and makes them feel that they are treated as individuals.”

Banner Jones has offices in Chesterfield, Sheffield, Dronfield, Mansfield and Nottingham.

Ward:

Swadlincote-based metal recycling and waste management specialist Ward has announced two new additions to its commercial team with the appointment of Mick Roots as national construction manager and Kieron Shanks in the newly-created role of senior bid manager.

With a turnover in excess of £300 million Ward is reported to be the biggest independent metal and waste recycling company in the Midlands.

Both appointments will be based at Ward’s head office, Donald Ward House in Ilkeston, where they will join the commercial team, reporting to Heather Foo, head of purchasing (metals) and sales (waste).

Heather Foo said: “It is great to have Mick on board to further enhance the waste team and the wider business. His experience and passion shines through and we are very pleased to have him as part of the Ward family.

“The business is equally thrilled to welcome Kieron to the team, who will have a key role in expanding the business through the bid process. This is a new role for Ward and one that will see the business grow through focusing on winning work through tenders.”

Timms Solicitors:

Timms Solicitors have announced three key appointments across the firm to support its on-going growth.

Marketing manager Sharon Jeffery and Finance and Systems manager Ali Jodiyawalla have both been promoted to senior associate. Wills and Probate solicitor Matt Kelly has also been promoted to associate after completing Timms’ bespoke Pathways career development programme.

The business has 50 members of staff across four locations in Derby, Ashby, Swadlincote and Burton.

UHY Hacker Young:

The Nottingham office of national accountancy UHY Hacker Young has promoted Becki Roberts and Chris McKain to director positions, as part of the office’s continuing growth and development of its audits and accounts services.

Becki Roberts joined the firm in July 2018 and, as head of the UHY National Cloud Group, specialises in cloud-based accounting. Working with a wide range of owner-managed and family businesses, Becki predominantly helps clients achieve their business goals by providing compliance and advisory services.

Becki said: “My first five years at UHY has been a fantastic period of personal development as I’ve grown in managing a portfolio of statutory and management accounts – ensuring that client finances continue to move in a prosperous direction and helping them achieve their business goals.”

Chris McKain has been promoted to director from senior audit manager, previously training at MHA and working at Grant Thornton prior to joining UHY twelve years ago.

PKF Smith Cooper:

Accounting and advisory firm PKF Smith Cooper has welcomed a new corporate finance executive, Lauryn Mayson, to the company as it focuses on recruiting new talent to scale up the division.

Lauryn graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2021 with a BSc in geography and kickstarted her corporate finance career with a top 10 firm. In her new role as corporate finance executive at PKF, Lauryn will be based in the Birmingham office working with clients in a range of sectors across the Midlands to help them buy, sell and grow their businesses.

PKF has ambitious plans to expand its corporate finance division in the Midlands and is seeking high calibre individuals and ambitious professionals. This includes a desire to expand both its advisory and its transaction services offerings.

The firm operates across key geographies in Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham, and Ashbourne.

Heavenly Deserts:

Derby-based Heavenly Desserts has appointed Sophie Page as the first head of marketing at the nationwide dessert franchise.

Following almost a decade in marketing for some of the biggest hospitality brands in the UK, Sophie will direct the overarching marketing strategy for the brand, to help it maintain its footing in the forefront of public mind as the go-to premium dessert dining restaurant both nationally and internationally as the brand undergoes vast expansion plans.

Sophie’s passion for the sector derives from her six years of experience at Greene King, which she joined in 2013 under its former brand name Spirit Group, where she pivoted from the drinks technical services team into marketing and rose from brand executive to manager, working on large scale campaigns with creative agencies to launch the latest trends to the public.

Sophie later worked as a marketing manager for Stonegate Group.
