Jharkhand: Ex-CM Raghubar Das takes part in dahi handi in Jamshedpur

JAMSHEDPUR: Former chief minister and BJP’s national vice-president Raghubar Das took part in Janmashtami celebrations at the Surya Mandir in Jamshedpur on Friday.

The temple committee had organised a dahi handi competition where Das also took part and he was seen breaking the curd-filled pot.

He congratulated those who took part in the competition and said, “Such functions help in uniting our brothers and sisters.”

Former BJP mahanagar head Dinesh Kumar, who is a part of the temple’s organizing committee, said that 78 men and 23 women took part in the competition.

This was the first Janmashtami since 2020 where there were no restrictions imposed because of the pandemic and devotees were allowed to visit the temples and offer puja. Needless to say, the devotees took full advantage of the situation this year as hordes of them were seen across temples in Steel City.

Even schools and housing complexes actively took part in the celebrations and organised various programmes at their respective premises to mark the occasion.

While the students dressed up as lord Krishna, the housing societies performed puja.
