Jets Owner Still “Pretty Confident” in Getting Aaron Rodgers Trade Done

The Jets and Packers are still trying to figure out the perfect recipe for an Aaron Rodgers trade. While Rodgers has expressed his desire to play in New York, the two sides have yet to work out a deal.

At the NFL owners meetings on Tuesday, Jets owner Woody Johnson indicated he’s still “pretty confident” a trade will get done.

“We’re pretty confident we can get something done,” said Johnson via Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. The 75-year-old also indicated that the organization has “a plan” when it comes to trading for the 39-year-old.

His comments echo that of Jets general manager Joe Douglas and coach Robert Saleh, both of whom indicated the team was without a timeline in regard to trading for Rodgers, but remained confident in a deal coming to fruition.

Johnson later indicated during his media session Tuesday that he’s keen for the franchise to achieve better results this season. In 2022, New York finished 7–10 and in last in the AFC East.

“I’m not the patient sort. We’re in the win business. We have to win now," added Johnson, via Rosenblatt.

The Jets are looking to snap their 12-year playoff drought, the longest active streak in the league. A trade for Rodgers would certainly put them in better position to do so, and Johnson indicated that the organization is still confident they can land the four-time MVP.
