Jets’ Lazard Says He’s Not Worried About Delay in Rodgers Trade

It has been two weeks since Aaron Rodgers announced his intention to join the Jets, but the star quarterback still remains under contract to the Packers for the foreseeable future. That is despite the fact that New York signed wide receiver Allen Lazard away from Green Bay.

So far, New York and Green Bay haven’t found common ground on trade compensation, with about a month to go before the 2023 NFL draft and five months until Rodgers’s hefty option bonus is due. That means the quarterback can’t get to work with his expected new team just yet.

Even though the trade hasn’t gone through yet, Lazard seems pretty calm about the situation. The wide receiver told TMZ Sports he doesn’t doubt the trade will happen in due time.

“There’s no worry on my end,” Lazard said. “Especially knowing that Aaron has his full-on commitment to being a New York Jet this year.”

Lazard landed a four-year, $44 million deal with the Jets, and the wide receiver admitted Rodgers was a “big reason” why he joined New York. Lazard and Rodgers played together for four seasons in Green Bay, and Lazard worked his way into becoming one of Rodgers’s most trusted weapons on offense.
