Jets add LB Frankie Luvu to practice squad

The Carolina Panthers reached into New York’s back pocket, signing WR/KR Greg Dortch from New York’s practice squad to their active roster. As a result, Gang Green signed linebacker Frankie Luvu to its practice squad to fill the vacancy.

New York waived Luvu on Monday, Oct. 14 despite playing 18 games over the past two seasons. The second-year pro out of Washington State has totaled 26 tackles and three sacks for the team in that time.

The 6-foot-3, 236-pounder is no stranger to the Jets practice squad. In fact, Luvu first signed with New York in May 2018 before being activated to the 53-man roster later in the year. Now he will face similar odds in hopes of fighting his way back to the active roster.

As for Dortch, the Wake Forest product signed with the Jets as a free agent in May. He was later waived and signed to the practice squad in September. Now, he will look to make an impact as an active member of the Carolina Panthers.
