Jet2 returns to Glasgow Airport today after more destinations added to green list

July is here and it's starting off with brilliant news for holidaymakers.

Jet2 have officially taken to the skies following last week's announcement from the UK Government on international travel surrounding covid.

The award-winning airline departed this morning from Glasgow Airport arriving in sunny Majorca where it's expected they'll reach of high of 32C today.

Majorca was added to the UK's green list yesterday (June 30) and more flights are due to take off this week with some heading to Ibiza, Menorca and Madeira.

As well as recommencing flights, the tour operator will also be starting up its holidays programme again.

Following the news last week that the Balearic Islands (Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza), Malta and Madeira have been put onto the green list, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays reported a surge in bookings from the city's airport with customers flocking to book holidays for July and August.

The UK's third largest registered airline also reported that bookings to the Balearic Islands were up by over 3,000% for the month of July alone.

Bookings for Madeira also jumped quite a bit by almost 1,500%.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “We are delighted to see our international flights take off again today from Glasgow Airport and to be resuming our award-winning flights and holidays programme to Majorca.

"As well as waving customers off to this destination this morning, we also have flights to Menorca, Ibiza and Madeira due to depart over the coming weeks, so we look forward to taking more customers in the region on their well-deserved holidays.

“We know how much pent-up demand there is from our customers and independent travel agents to enjoy our award-winning flights and real package holidays once again, so it is fantastic to be back in the air.

"Our focus now is on doing what we do best - delivering award winning customer service and package holidays you can trust. We look forward to more destinations being added to the UK’s green list very soon and taking more customers to their favourite sunshine hotspots.”
