Jet ban spreads, CAAT mulls action

Hejere, Ethiopia: A growing number of airlines grounded a new Boeing plane involved in the Ethiopian Airlines disaster as a global team of investigators began picking through the rural crash site yesterday.

Oman and South Korean airline Eastar Jet were the latest to halt use of the 737 MAX 8. Britain, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore suspended all flights into or out of their countries.

The governor of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand also said yesterday he was ready to ban Boeing 737 MAX passenger aircraft from Thai airspace if he received clear instruction to do so from the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States.

CAAT director-general Chula Sukmanop said: "The CAAT prioritises aviation safety. If there is clear information requiring abrupt action, I will take action right away." agencies
