Jessie J shares emotional health update as she clarifies claim that breast cancer is ‘all gone’ post-surgery

Jessie J shared a candid update following successful surgery earlier this week.

The 37-year-old singer had previously told fans she was stepping away from the spotlight after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Earlier this month, she explained she would “disappear” for a while to undergo treatment, just days after performing at Capital’s Summertime Ball on June 15.

Now, the British hitmaker, known for chart-topping hits like Price Tag, Domino and Bang Bang, has shared a positive health update.

Posting on social media, she confirmed the procedure was a success and that her cancer is “all gone”.

Writing a list of “pros” after her surgery, she began: “Cancer is all gone. My nipple is where it used to be, I can watch Love Island with no guilt.

“I am getting to rest and talk to friends more than ever.

“My mum lives with us. Sky just being Sky. Chanan making me feel safe and the messages are 10/10,” she continued.

“Connecting with other people who are going through a similar time and being able to support each other. Lot of other things…”

However, she also opened up about the challenges she’s still facing post-surgery.

Sharing her “cons”, Jessie listed some of the difficult aspects of recovery, including “not being the mum I’m used to being and picking Sky up”, referring to her young son, as well as “the pain and discomfort when trying to sleep”.

However, Jessie later clarified her comments after receiving a wave of messages celebrating that she was “cancer-free.”

Posting to her Instagram Story, she wrote: “I’m getting a lot of messages saying so happy all the cancer has gone. To be clear I added the [fingers crossed] emoji as it’s a hope not a fact.

“I only had my surgery 4 days ago,” she explained. “I was just saying the pros of surgery and this situation and being positive.”

She added that she’s still waiting for her results, saying: “ And hopefully I can post that as a fact. But for now I don’t know. But I will stay positive and talk what I want into the universe.”

Earlier this week, the artist, whose real name is Jessica Cornish, posted a carousel of images and videos on Instagram documenting the 48 hours before and after her surgery.

She said: “This post is some of the honest lows and highs of the last 48 hours.

“I will always show the good and hard bits of any journey I go through. Grateful to my doctor / surgeon and all the nurses who cared for me and all my family / friends who came to visit.

“I am home now, to rest and wait for my results.

“Still hugging everyone going through something tough right now. We all got this!”

The singer-songwriter performed at Capital’s Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium on June 15 and made an emotional speech promising to “beat breast cancer” in her final performance before her surgery.

She said: “I feel so proud to be feeling OK, to be this honest person where you say what you feel, and this being my last show before I go and have surgery.”

The artist has battled with ill health throughout her life, having been diagnosed with a heart condition aged eight, suffering a minor stroke aged 18 and having briefly gone deaf in 2020.

She was awarded four Mobo awards in 2011, including best UK act, best newcomer, best song for Do It Like A Dude and best album with Who You Are and won the Brit Award for rising star in 2011.
