Jerome Bettis' top L.A. Rams memories

Aug. 09--Jerome Bettis recalls his five most memorable moments from his days with the Los Angeles Rams:

1. His first career touchdown came against his future club, the Pittsburgh Steelers, in September 1993. It was a 29-yard scoring run in a 27-0 victory.

2. His first 100-yard game came a month into his rookie season, when he ran for 102 yards in 22 carries in a 37-6 loss to New Orleans. It was the biggest blowout loss in the Rams' 5-11 season.

3. In the rematch against the Saints that season, Bettis notched his first 200-yard game. That came in a 23-20 Rams victory at the Superdome, and he ran for 212 yards in 28 carries, including a 71-yard touchdown. "It was a sweep, and I cut back inside," he said. " I hit a guy, he tried to tackle me, and I bounced off of him and took off running down the sideline."

4. In the 13th game of his second season, against New Orleans, Bettis caught a five-yard touchdown pass from Chris Miller. The Rams lost at home, 31-15, but Bettis collected one of the three scoring receptions of his career.

5. The first time he got NFL playing time was in a 1993 exhibition game against the Arizona Cardinals. "I was as nervous as they come," he said. "I wasn't sick nervous, but shoot, I was scared. I didn't know if I could do it or not. You have that moment of doubt."
