Jermain Defoe in Tinder warning as Rangers striker reveals dating app imposter

Rangers striker Jermain Defoe has revealed someone is impersonating him on dating site Tinder.

The 38-year-old posted a social media warning on Friday. He has contacted the Ibrox club as well as the police after the imposter shared photos and claimed they were the former England international.

Defoe moved quickly to alert his 519,000 Instagram followers that he wasn't looking for love on the popular app as he urged anyone affected to ignore messages.

He said: "Hey guys, there's been a fake account on Tinder trying to impersonate me.

"Just to let you know the club and the police are involved in this matter.

"If you have been contacted by this fake account, please ignore and report."

Defoe is working his way back to full fitness and remains a vital member of Steven Gerrard's squad as Rangers aim to end Celtic's domestic dominance and deny them Ten In A Row.

On Friday the Ibrox giants were drawn against Benfica, Standard Liege and Lech Poznan in the Europa League group stage draw following their excellent win over Galatasaray on Thursday night.
