Jeremy Clarkson has blunt response as Bradley Walsh is named richest solo TV presenter

Jeremy Clarkson gave a blunt response to the news Bradley Walsh was TV's highest paid solo presenter.

The Chase Star, 63, is estimated to be worth a whopping £18.6 million, according to figures from his WingIt Productions firm.

Fans couldn't believe former Top Gear host Jeremy, also 63, wasn't top of TV's rich list as one tweeted: "I think @JeremyClarkson is the UK's richest tv presenter, he's certainly worth way more than Bradley Walsh. All 3 #thegrandtour presenters according to Google are worth over £40 million."

However, the father-of-three bluntly responded: "You’re forgetting Sir Attenborough."

David Attenborough is one of the highest-paid stars at the BBC, according to the corporation's public disclosures, typically earning £1.1 million per year. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the naturalist has a net worth of around £11.8 million.

David also reportedly earned over £1.3 million last year, having pocketed more than £3,000 a minute for appearing in the award-winning nature series Frozen Planet, according to the Daily Mail.

Bradley, meanwhile, is said to have seen his bank balance increase by £3.5 million over the past 12 months. Many thought Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly would have pipped the presenter to the rich list top spot, but it's only their combined wealth which is higher.

A TV insider told the Mail: "Bradley really is at the top of his game right now and is raking it in. He's firmly established himself at the top of his profession and is the go-to man for both the BBC and ITV.

"And that shows no signs of slowing down either, as viewers can't get enough of him."

The seasoned host currently fronts the hugely popular ITV game show The Chase, as well as presenting the spin-off Beat the Chasers, Blankety Blank and Wheel of Fortune.

He also starred in ITV’s The Larkins, which was a reboot of the beloved 1990s series The Darling Buds of May, Coronation Street, BBC’s Doctor Who and Law & Order: UK.

Bradley's fortune looks set to increase over the next few months, as he’s landed the coveted hosting gig on BBC One’s reboot of Gladiators, alongside his son Barney.

Speaking about bagging the prestigious job, Bradley said: "Wow! I can’t believe that I’ve been asked to be part of this iconic show. I used to sit backstage, or in the audience, every week watching my wife be part of this juggernaut and now I get to co-host a new version of GLADIATORS!!! Saturday night family entertainment at its best...ARE YOU READY ?!"

While Barney gushed: "Gladiators has been a massive part of our family and it’s an honour to be asked to co-host this iconic show. I’m so excited for everyone to see the spectacle, elite athletes and fantastic family entertainment that is GLADIATORS."
