Jeremie Frimpong pursuit sees Man United clear transfer decks with FOUR defenders set for exit door

Ex-Celtic full-back Jermaine Frimpong is being lined up by Manchester United as one of their main targets this summer with at least four defenders set to leave the club.

Current right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka was transfer listed last summer but no offers were received, and he is now set to be offloaded this transfer window alongside Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly, Alex Telles and Brandon Williams. Fellow right-back Diogo Dalot is currently locked in contract talks with United.

The 22-year-old Dutchman came through the youth system at Manchester City before joining Celtic and being voted the club's young player of the year in his first campaign at Parkhead. The Manchester Evening News reports that this would allow Frimpong to link up with fellow Dutchman Erik ten Hag at his old rivals. It is thought that Manchester United boss Ten Hag rates the player highly and is keen on working with him as he continues his Old Trafford revamp.

Frimpong signed for Celtic in September of 2019 on a four year deal but his time at the club was short-lived as he departed for Bayern Leverkusen just over a year later.

The youngster became famous for his "oh my days" exclamation after the League Cup final win over Rangers despite being sent off just minutes after his side's only goal.
