Jeremie Frimpong Celtic windfall 'close' as Manchester United 'interests' star amid hefty transfer fee

Jeremie Frimpong is said to be viewing a potential move to Manchester United as a 'very interesting option'.

And the former Celtic defender could be set to land his old club a hefty windfall from a sell-on clause to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen. The Dutchman was a popular figure during his time at Celtic Park after Frimpong was recruited from giants Manchester City for just £350,000 and spent nearly two years in Glasgow. He was then sold in a smart move to Germany in a package worth around £12million.

Now it appears the 22-year-old could be high on the agenda of Erik Ten Hag's side but according to reports in Germany, Frimpong would leave the club for no less than a whopping £50million as he has a contract until 2025.

That could leave Celtic with a nice seven-figure boost from their sell-on clause, with Sky reporter Florian Plettenburg now reporting that after supposed talks had taken place that Frimpong views Old Trafford as a 'very interesting option'. The report also states that Ten Hag is 'enthusiastic' about bringing his fellow countryman to Manchester.

Meanwhile the Hoops won't make much back on their sell-on for former hitman Moussa Dembele. Yet the 26-year-old could be set to bring his Lyon nightmare to an end with a proposed move to Everton, according to reports.

The forward is said, however, to be biding his time should Sean Dyche's men be unable to avoid the drop to the English Championship.
