‘Jeopardy!’ fans have their minds blown by an ultra-rare tiebreaker

It’s not the first time we’ve seen Jeopardy! go to a Final Jeopardy tie-breaker when two contestants end up with the same money.

Back in 2018, the game show had its first non-tournament tiebreaker when both contestants had $6,799. And on Wednesday, the 2019 Teen Tournament ended with one when two players had $39,200.

The tie-breaker involves one clue read by Alex Trebek and whoever rings in first with the right response would move on.

The category was “American History,” and the clue was: “Type of it you could find in Boston Harbor on December 16, 1773 included Souchong and Bohea.” A contestant named Avi nailed the correct response (“What is tea?”) and moved on:
