Jenny McCarthy on Charlie Sheen: 'How could you not be upfront about HIV?'

Nov. 19--Jenny McCarthy, who guest starred on "Two and a Half Men" with Charlie Sheen, wondered why Sheen did not publicly reveal his HIV status earlier than this week since actors are asked to disclose health issues before taking jobs.

"I don't even know how to feel about that. I'm like, 'Wait a second. If I have to be upfront about a herpe, how could you not be upfront about HIV?," McCarthy said Wednesday on her SiriusXM radio show.

McCarthy, 43, played Sheen's paramour for eight episodes of the CBS show from 2007-2011. Sheen disclosed Tuesday that he was diagnosed with HIV about four years ago.

"I look back and I'm like, 'Okay, that would have been some valuable information.' Look how many people have played his love interest on the show," McCarthy said. "I mean, not that you can obviously get it through kissing, but still that's a big deal."

Sheen's manager Mark Burg told People magazine that "Charlie was infected long after he left 'Two and a Half Men' and long after he worked with Jenny.'"

Sheen went on to star in FX's "Anger Management," which was canceled last year after two seasons. McCarthy, an Evergreen Park native, was featured this year on the A reality show "Donnie Loves Jenny," about her marriage to New Kids on the Block member Donnie Wahlberg and their recent move to St. Charles.
