The crowd at David Guetta’s Coachella set were not the only ones shocked by Jennifer Lopez’s guest appearance.
The 56-year-old singer said she surprised herself by making her debut at the iconic festival in Indio, California, after decades in the spotlight.
“The most fun day!!” Lopez wrote in an Instagram post shared Sunday. “’Save Me Tonight’ with David live for the first time at MY FIRST COACHELLA was so special.”
She added, “My happy era is rewriting everything. Don’t ever stop surprising yourself.”
Her post included a clip of her surprising Guetta’s crowd as a guest performer Saturday when she walked on stage in a glittery bodysuit, thigh high boots and sunglasses that she threw into the crowd.
“I invited a friend,” Guetta told the screaming audience. “Make some noise for Jennifer Lopez!”
The “On The Floor” singer and the Grammy-winning DJ performed their new EDM song, which came out March 6. She then gave Guetta a hug and went backstage to take pictures with her backup dancers.
It comes after Lopez wrapped up her three-month Up All Night Live in Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace last month.
Lopez has consistently referenced her “happy era” in social media posts following her divorce from Ben Affleck in 2024.
In January, she shared her pre-workout beauty routine in a video on Instagram that she said was “happy era energy.”
She said about her new mental state on Good Morning America last month: “For the first time in my life, I feel like I’m free.”
“I’m on my own and it feels really good,” she said. “I didn’t really know what that felt like since I was in my early twenties, and even before that. I always had a boyfriend. There was always kind of someone in my life, and so many other things I felt like were out of my control. I’ve gotten to the point where I really trust myself and appreciate myself a little bit more, instead of being so hard on myself all of the time and always trying to prove so many things.”
Affleck and Lopez were married for two years. Their divorce was finalized in January 2025.
The pair have appeared to remain on friendly terms, and publicly reunited at the October premiere of Lopez’s movie Kiss of the Spider Woman, which Affleck produced.
