Jennifer Lopez on how her perception of marriage has changed over the years

Jennifer Lopez has opened up about how her views on marriage and relationships have evolved over time, revealing that her daughter already has a mature outlook on love.

Lopez has had to deal with the piercing gaze of the public eye throughout a career spanning almost three decades, with much attention placed on the goings on of her personal life.

Now happily in love with former professional baseball player Alexander Rodriguez, the singer has candidly spoken about how she used to view romance through a traditional lens.

“I grew up with the fairy tale, ‘A prince is going to save you’,” she tells Red magazine.

“‘Wait for true love and that’s what makes you happy,’ ‘If you’re not married, you’re not happy’.”

Lopez has been married three times, with her most recent marriage to singer Marc Anthony lasting a decade.

The popstar has two children with Anthony, 10-year-old twins Maximilian David and Emme Maribel.

Lopez expressed her pride in her daughter for learning how to value her self-worth at such a young age.

“Well, let me tell you, my daughter is eons above me already,” the singer says.

“She said to me when she was eight, ‘I don’t know if I want to get married, mummy.’

“And when she said that I was like, ‘YES!’ because I’ve been teaching her to love herself since she was little.”

In December 2018, Lopez stated her belief that men are “much more fragile and sensitive” than women while promoting her latest film Second Act.

“We’re said to be the more fragile, sensitive gender, but I think the truth is that men are much more fragile and sensitive,” the performer told Vanity Fair.

“And we have to be stronger and more conscious of not hurting fragile egos at times."
