Jennifer Aniston slammed over hypocritical famous for nothing slur with her own star parents

Jennifer Aniston has sparked a backlash after speaking about how stars find fame through the internet today, claiming it is "diluting the actor's job," and saying star are famous for "basically doing nothing", such as Paris Hilton.

The Friends star, 53, was accused of being a "nepotism" baby and gatekeeping Hollywood, after she made the remarks during a chat with fellow actor and Captain America star Sebastian Stan.

Jennifer is the daughter of late actress Nancy Dow and Days of Our Lives star John Aniston, 88.

The Along Came Polly star and Sebastian, 39, were taking part in an Actors on Actors interview for Variety, with the duo talking about Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee's sex tape leak in the 1990s, with Sebastian recently playing the musician in a Hulu series.

The pair discussed internet culture at the time of the infamous leak, with Jennifer going on to say: "It was right at the time when the internet really shaped a new culture about people becoming famous.

"This thing of people becoming famous for basically doing nothing but yet having these incredible careers. And then women's reputation... I mean Pam, Paris Hilton, Monica Lewinsky."

Monica Lewinsky was an intern who had an affair with Bill Clinton when he was president, with the scandal emerging in 1998.

Sebastian went on: "When you look back at the ’90s, you do see how many things have happened in that decade. Even the O.J. Simpson thing was actually the beginning of 24-hour news."

Jennifer then added: "I always say I feel so lucky that we got a little taste of the industry before it became what it is today, which is just different- more streaming services, more people.

"You’re famous from TikTok, you're famous from YouTube, you're famous from Instagram. It’s sort of almost like, it’s diluting the actor’s job."

Her comments provoked anger on Twitter.

One person said: "Jennifer Aniston plays the same character which is just a version of herself in every movie and it consistently gives nothing. The only that saves her is she has pretty okay co stars to save as comic relief.. always the NEPOTISM babies with no talent wanting to give their take."

Another wrote: "They’re so mad they can’t gatekeep the title of celebrity to stay in their weird nepotism Hollywood elite."

A third person penned: "Jennifer Aniston needs to calm down with her opinions when her nepotism got her into the industry and now she continues to make $20million per year just off syndication from a show that ended decades ago."

On Twitter user quipped: "Jennifer Aniston (nepotism baby) not talking about the true injustice to the acting industry (nepotism) and instead pretending the acting profession is degraded when people from all walks of life have the opportunity to become actors based on their own hard work and virality."

However there were people that defended the Hollywood star, pointing out her parents didn't have huge success in Hollywood, and she eclipsed them.

One person wrote: " #zoomers calling out #jenniferaniston are so losers, she isn't a "nepotism" baby, her parents were flop actors compared to her, so she had to do castings like every actress without connections."

Another chimed in: "Jennifer aniston said what everyone has been saying for years but since shes a nepo baby saying it, twitter wants to be mad. she was right. nepo baby or not.

"Atleast she has talent unlike the tiktokers wit absolutely no talent getting multi-million dollar acting deals & big roles."
