US musician Jelly Roll has taken to social media to claim he was treated like a “criminal” while shopping at a Louis Vuitton store in Sydney.
The rapper, who’s currently in Australia for a string of festival appearances and solo shows, detailed his shopping experience in a series of Instagram Stories shared on Wednesday.
“The Louis Vuitton in Sydney legitimately just treated us like we were [gonna] come in and rob that place. I have never been looked at more like a crim,” Jelly Roll said while walking outside the luxury brand’s store on George Street in the CBD.
While he didn’t offer further details about his experience in the shop, Jelly Roll said the incident reminded him of his previous run-ins with the law, including being jailed two times for drug and robbery-related charges at age 14 and 23.
“Listen, the last time I was looked at like a criminal this bad … I was an actual criminal this bad,” he said of the store’s staff.
Louis Vuitton has not yet responded to Jelly Roll’s accusations, but the rapper has shared his love of the brand in the past.
In September, he wore Louis Vuitton while meeting Pope Leo XIV in the Vatican, saying he “can fit in Louis Vuitton now” and jokingly asking to “pray for my bank account”.
It comes amid Jelly Roll’s ongoing and first-ever Aussie jaunt, which kicked off last month and has taken to festivals like Strummingbird Festival in Newcastle and Perth and Harvest Rock in Adelaide.
Despite the Louis Vuitton experience, Jelly Roll seems to otherwise be enjoying his time Down Under, from sharing pics in front of the Sydney Opera House, to arguing about the difference between Fahrenheit and Celsius, and detailing his newfound love of the AFL.
Oh, he also completed an Aussie rite of passage by delivering not one, but two shoeys to his drummer while they were performing on stage.
Jelly Roll will perform one more Aussie date in Townsville today before heading off on the New Zealand leg of his tour this weekend.
