Jeffrey Epstein's ex-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell to appear in Court after being arrested by FBI

Jeffrey Epstein's ex-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell has been arrested by the FBI.

The British heiress is expected to appear in court later today.

It's not yet known what she has been arrested on suspicion of, but it's believed to be linked to disgraced paedophile Epstein.

The 58-year-old was said to be one of four Brits, including Prince Andrew, who the FBI want to talk to - reports Mirror Online.

She was arrested in New Hampshire at 8.30am local time in the US.

Some of Epstein's alleged victims have said Maxwell lured them into his circle, where they were sexually abused by him and powerful friends.

She has been accused in several civil cases in the US of acting as Epstein’s “madam”, which she has denied.

Sources told NBC New York she was arrested on Epstein-related charges.

Previously it was reported that the FBI is investigating Maxwell and several other people linked to Epstein, who died in prison last August.

Sources claim the principal focus of the probe is the British socialite and other “people who facilitated” Epstein’s allegedly illegal behaviour.

Maxwell, who has not been seen in public for several years, has not so far been accused of criminal wrongdoing.

In a 2003 Vanity Fair article, Epstein was quoted as saying Maxwell was his "best friend.''

The Washington Post reported in August that neighbours said Maxwell had been living in a secluded oceanfront mansion in Massachusetts owned by a technology entrepreneur, Scott Borgerson.

He declined to tell the newspaper whether Maxwell had lived there with him.
