The National Gallery of Victoria is set to open its doors for a free exhibition showcasing the best in contemporary art and design from around the world.
Visitors can expect to see works by international superstars like American artist Jeff Koons and French photographer JR when the NGV Triennial opens on Saturday.
The show also features works by locals such as the Melbourne-based Sibling Architecture and photographer Atong Atem, as well as striking bark paintings by Yolngu artist Dhambit Mununggurr.
Accompanying activities include outdoor dining and music, a specially curated kids exhibition by Los-Angeles based Japanese artist Misaki Kawai, the NGV Kids Summer Festival and an NGV Kids on Tour program in regional Victoria.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said the exhibition would be a drawcard and support jobs as the state began to rebuild following the coronavirus lockdown.
"There couldn't be a better way to welcome Victorians back to the NGV - the people's gallery - than with the spectacular second NGV Triennial," Mr Andrews said in a statement.
The NGV Triennial attracted 1.23 million attendees when first held in 2017 - the most attended exhibition in the gallery's history.
This edition will run until April 18.
