This year is the 60th Anniversary of Easter Jeep Safari, the off-road event out in Moab, Utah, that attracts thousands of Jeep fanatics. Jeep, the brand, will also be attending, using the venue to launch several new concepts that highlight available customization options and others that might be available in the future.
At this year's event, Jeep is showing off six new concepts. The oldest is based on a 1984 Jeep Cherokee, while the Wrangler, Gladiator, and Grand Wagoneer account for the rest. Missing from the outing is any rugged version of the new Cherokee with its hybrid engine, but maybe we will see something next year.
Easter Jeep Safari takes place in Moab from March 28 to April 5. Here are the six new concept cars that Jeep is showing off.
Jeep Wrangler Anvil 715
The Wrangler Anvil 715 is an overlanding vehicle that follows the rugged aesthetic introduced with last year’s Bug Out 4xe Concept. It has a restyled front end inspired by the SJ Jeeps of the 1960s, a non-removable custom roof with a skylight and integrated roof rack, and heavy-duty steel bumpers.
Under the hood is the 6.4-liter V8 engine, which produces 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.
Inside, the Jeep, based on a Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, features custom upholstered seats.
Jeep Wrangler Buzzcut
The Wrangler Buzzcut is hard to miss with its Vitamin C orange and black exterior. It also has a fastback-style roof with a two-inch drop, which Jeep counters with a two-inch suspension lift and 37-inch tires. This concept has the model’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which typically makes 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, but this one has been enhanced with a Mopar cold-air intake.
Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) include steel bumpers, an A-pillar light, a snorkel, a fuel door cover, rock rails, and more. Inside, the Jeep has custom performance seats, orange seat belts, and the accessory rail.
Jeep Grand Wagoneer Commander
The Wagoneer Commander Concept is a stealth-inspired creation with 35-inch tires and 20-inch wheels. It has a custom roof rack with integrated lighting, custom skid plates, and custom graphics, while Jeep left the cabin untouched.
The Wagoneer Commander Concept is supposed to show how the luxury-oriented SUV can serve as a proper off-road base that’s customizable and capable.
Jeep Wrangler Laredo
The Wrangler Laredo is for those who like to keep things simple. It features the 3.6-liter V6 engine, which makes 285 hp and 260lb-ft of torque, and the six-speed manual transmission. It has a two-inch suspension lift from JPP, 17-inch wheels wrapped in 37-inch tires, and a manual Sky
Slider concept. Inside, Jeep swaps the carpets for a vinyl floor, installs durable cloth seats, and adds a rear-gate-mounted onboard air system.
Jeep Gladiator Red Rock
The Gladiator Red Rock features an assortment of JPP parts, including 17-inch beadlock wheels with 37-inch tires, a steel front bumper with a Warn wench, rock rails, door-sill guards, performance wiper blades, and an off-road recovery kit.
It also has custom graphics and a rolling truck bed cargo tray. Inside, there are JPP grab handles and Armorlite flooring. Under the hood is the 3.6-liter V6 engine.
Jeep Cherokee XJ Pioneer
The Jeep Cherokee XJ Pioneer is a lightly modded 1984 model. It has a two-inch suspension lift with a quick-disconnecting sway bar, wears custom 17-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch all-terrain tires, and features custom carbon-fiber fender flares.
Inside, Jeep kept the Cherokee very true to the original, but added some unique touches, like a custom cooler.
