JBA players feel LaVar Ball gave up on league after LaMelo, LiAngelo left

From the moment the Junior Basketball Association (JBA) was formed, the reasoning was incredibly transparent. With the league starting only after a failed trip to Lithuania for his sons LiAngelo and LaMelo, LaVar Ball’s motives were fairly evident.

It should come as no surprise, then, that those in the league saw through LaVar’s motives. In a feature from The New York Post on the short-lived JBA, it was revealed that at least some in the league felt like LaVar gave up on it when his sons were finished with it.

The feeling around the league is LaVar gave up on the league after his two younger sons were no longer involved.

The post goes on to detail how abruptly the Team USA world tour ended, again, the wake of new paths for LaVar and LiAngelo. After spending months touring Europe, the team headed home for Thanksgiving before being scheduled to return to China after the holidays.

The USA team was supposed to return overseas after Thanksgiving to play in China. But players claimed that trip never happened in large part because LaMelo had started playing at the Spire School — a prep school in Ohio — and LiAngelo was recovering from an ankle injury.

There’s been virtually no acknowledgment of the JBA since coming back from the tour. While there was a small report about a future for the league circulated last week, it’s the first and only report of such. And with LiAngelo and LaMelo not included in that future, it’s unlikely the league will have a revival.
