Jayden Reed won’t be eligible for Michigan State football this season

It wasn’t exactly a surprise, but Mark Dantonio told media at his weekly press conference that wide receiver transfer Jayden Reed will be sitting out the 2019 season.

MSU had applied for a waiver for Reed–who transferred to MSU from Western Michigan this past spring–to be immediately eligible, but it was denied.

Reed was a dynamic presence for the Broncos last season with 56 catches for 797 yards and eight touchdowns. He also returned a punt for a touchdown while averaging a shade under 18 yards per return leading to him earning freshman All-American status.

Reed hd previously announced  that he would have to sit out a year due to NCAA transfer rules, but there had been a small sliver of a chance he would be ruled eligible. That is until today of course.
