Javi Gracia has described the task of facing Manchester City in the second half as 'impossible'.
Watford went into half-time of the FA Cup final 2-0 down, but were blown out of the water by Pep Guardiola's rampant side in the second period.
Gracia spoke of his side's positive start, but said it was hard to compete with the Premier League champions.
Speaking to the BBC, he said: "In this moment everybody is really sad but we knew before the game that you have to play the perfect game.
"We started well, we created the best chance after 10 minutes with Roberto (Pereyra) and that was our opportunity. After that they dominated the game and it was very difficult for us. They were better, congratulations to them and we'll try next time.
"Maybe scoring that chance you have the opportunity to get something in the end but if you don't do it then they're really good and they're able to find the spaces.

"In the first half we defended the spaces better but the second half was impossible."
But despite defeat, Javi Gracia found time to thank the Watford fans for their brilliant support.
Asked about the fans, he said: "It's amazing for us. We have the support for our fans all of this season.

"Even after losing today, it's amazing. All I can say is that sometimes you have to lose to win in the future and we'll try to do it next time."
