Jason Manford praises Liverpool despite Manchester rivalry

Stand up comedian Jason Manford has issued a heartwarming message to Liverpool praising the people living here.

His message comes after he returned to the city yesterday to visit Liverpool's Empire Theatre where he is starring in the musical Curtains.

In his message, he even joked how welcoming the city and its people have been to him over the last 20 years, despite him being "from behind enemy lines".

The joke was in reference to the comedian being from Salford in Greater Manchester.

Taking to Twitter, Jason said: "Always love Liverpool.

"A city & people who've been so good to me over the years (especially for someone who's from behind enemy lines!).

"I've been coming here for 20 years from doing the clubs to playing the arena & now bringing @curtainsthemusical to the beautiful Empire Theatre."

Curtains the Musical opened yesterday (Tuesday, January 28) and runs until Saturday, February 1.

Responding to his tweet many fans were sharing their excitement at seeing the show. User @HannahjPickers said: "I will see you Sat night. Hope you have a great show!!!"

@JuyeyDoodles said: "See you tomorrow."

And, @RuthieHarding said: "Watching your stand up from 2015/6 that was filmed right there.....(Amazon Prime).....passes the time with the ironing mountain n all....loving the banter about Mancs and Liverpudlians. If anyone has never seen this before..... watch it now!!! Proper comedy genius!"
