Jason Kerr in Rangers Scottish Cup 'come down' admission as St Johnstone captain relives Ibrox final feeling

St Johnstone captain Jason Kerr admits the last-gasp Scottish Cup win over Rangers made it feel like they'd already won the trophy.

There were incredible scenes at Ibrox last month as Steven Gerrard 's side were sent crashing out of the competition on penalties.

If that wasn't enough drama on the night goalkeeper Zander Clark popped up with the crucial assist to hand Chris Kane the tap-in and take the game to a shoot-out.

Kerr admitted the Perth Saints have been on a high since the win in Glasgow as Callum Davidson 's side target a cup double.

The St Johnstone skipper now hopes to carry the momentum into the semi-final showdown with St Mirren.

Kerr told Saints TV : “It’s been hard to come down from that to be honest.

“It was absolute madness what happened at the end of the game. Full credit to all the boys, we dug in there after the final five minutes of extra time.

“We put in so much work and it was a killer to concede in the last five minutes, but we just showed how character we have got in the squad to score in the last five minutes, especially for Zander to get his head to it as well.

“It just shows how much character we’ve got, and to win on penalties it just shows how much composure we’ve got as well.

“I’m just coming down from it now and looking forward to the semis.”

When asked if it felt like they had won the final itself after the late drama, he said: “You could say that. You don’t win at Ibrox too often, it’s hard to win at Ibrox, that’s the first time I’ve ever won there.

“After you win there is settles in that you are in a semi-final and back at Hampden, so it just shows you how good our squad is that we can go and do that to teams.

“We feel like we can beat any team at the minute with how well were are playing.”
