Jason Donovan rushes to tackle neighbour's fire in just his underpants

Former Neighbours actor Jason Donovan rushed to put out a fire in just his underpants after noticing flames at a neighbour's house in Notting Hill, London, on 22 September, 2019. ( Jason Donovan )

There were not too many broken hearts but maybe one or two raised eyebrows from firefighters who arrived at a blaze to find Jason Donovan tackling a blaze in his underpants.

After spotting flames at his neighbours house London's Notting Hill, the Australian singer and actor jumped out of bed and bolted across the road with a fire extinguisher.

The 51-year-old posted an image of himself running into the building in his boxer shorts on Twitter

“This is a good reason to always wear PJs to bed but much more importantly to have fire extinguishers at hand in the home.” the former Neighbours star said.

London Fire Brigade quipped that “everyone needs good neighbours”.

A crew from Kensington was called to the fire in the early hours of 22 September.

Watch manager Thomas Wolfe, of London Fire Brigade, said: “The fire was located in the side passage next to a house and when we arrived a gentleman was tackling the fire using a fire extinguisher. We took over from him and quickly dealt with the blaze.

“It soon transpired that it was Jason Donovan who noticed the fire from his property over the road. The fire is believed to have been caused by a fault in electrical cabling.”

Asked whether the brigade would give Donovan, who is currently starring in Jospeh and his Technicolour Dreamcoat in London's West End, a commendation, Mr Wolfe said: “He looks good for his age."

He added: "As one of the firefighters said to the resident, ‘everyone needs good neighbours’.”
