Jarvis Landry turned down ‘nice sum’ one year offer from Browns per Rapoport

It seems that the end of the Jarvis Landry era with the Cleveland Browns was official when the team cut him loose to start the league year. While there was a ton of talk about a return after Deshaun Watson was acquired, it looks like that door is closed.

Where Landry lands still seems uncertain. He visited with the New Orleans Saints, his home state team, and had an interest in the Atlanta Falcons if Watson was traded there.

Now, near the middle of May, Landry remains on the free agent market along with his best friend, Odell Beckham Jr., Julio Jones and a few other veterans. Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network described the options for Landry as very limited after turning down a “nice sum” offer from Cleveland on a one year deal:

Earlier this offseason, there was a report that the former Browns receiver thought he was in line for a huge payday after the team released him. That may have led to him firing his agent but a big deal hasn’t materialized.

Perhaps Landry regrets turning down Cleveland’s offer but both sides seemed to have turned the page. It will be interesting where the slot receiver ends up and how much his contract will be when he does sign a deal.
