TV Asahi announced the decision to cancel a performance by globally popular South Korean pop group BTS that was scheduled to air on the "Music Station" program on Friday.
According to TV Asahi, the decision was made in response to controversy over a T-shirt worn by a member of BTS with a design depicting the atomic bombing.
The broadcaster said it is "the result of looking into the matter comprehensively" after seeking an explanation from the BTS side.
The K-pop group issued a statement on its website, saying, "We apologize for the result, which has disappointed our fans."
