A firebomb attack on a leading Japanese newspaper may be linked to an exclusive story it ran on Thursday about the late Emperor Hirohito. The Molotov cocktail thrown at entrance to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun's Tokyo headquarters caused only minor damage. The most plausible motive for the attack was last week's revelation that Hirohito stopped visiting a shrine because war criminals were buried there, a story which has infuriated ultra-nationalist groups.
