
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was seen wearing a larger mask rather than the smaller one he used to wear, when he went to his office on Monday.
Abe set forth to distribute the same smaller masks to all households nationwide on April 1 and has been taking the lead in wearing it. These smaller face coverings are not as popular and have been mocked as "Abenomask." There have also been delays in distribution.
"For the past six months, we have taken various measures [against the shortage of masks]," Abe said when asked why he changed masks and explained to the press about the resumption of mask sales. "Now, there are more available in stores."
