Jan Aushadhi centres to come up in Punjab medical colleges

CHANDIGARH: Punjab medical education and research minister Om Prakash Soni on Thursday announced setting up of a Jan Aushadhi centre at Government Medical College, Amritsar.

While presiding over a high-level meeting to review the working mechanism of government medical colleges at Patiala and Amritsar, Soni said Jan Aushdhi Centre at Amritsar would provide much-needed respite with affordable generic drugs to local residents.

During the meeting, principal secretary of the department Alok Shekhar informed that the construction work of state cancer institute, Amritsar, was in full swing and it would be completed soon and dedicated to the people of Punjab. He added that super specialist services for cancer treatment at Government Medical College, Patiala, would also be started shortly.
